It’s so nice to meet you!

My name is Rachel Vold, and I am a photographer based in Medicine Hat, Alberta. I left my career in the funeral industry in 2007 to pursue my passion for photography and started my own business, Madchen Studios. At first, I worked from my home studio, but the company grew quickly, and I opened a studio space in downtown Medicine Hat in 2010.

As a professional photographer based in Medicine Hat, Alberta, I am honored to have received two accreditations from the Professional Photographers of Canada in 2011, specifically for Maternity and Family photography and Infant and Child portraiture. With my expertise, I can capture timeless moments and memories for my clients. I am always excited to travel and shoot sessions for my clients. So far, I’ve been to Punta Cana, Victoria, BC, and even the Maritimes to photograph some great clients. “I aim to create an enjoyable and stress-free experience for my clients, ensuring they receive high-quality images they will treasure for a lifetime.

In 2016, I faced an injury that forced me to close my studio and semi-retire. However, after working hard and undergoing physiotherapy, I was able to start photographing again in 2018, and I am now back at it in full force!
I specialize in photographing children and have mastered the art of capturing their natural smiles and personalities through running around, playing games, and telling dad jokes. At Madchen Studios, I take a custom approach to each session, tailoring them to my client’s specific needs and wants so that they can have a unique and memorable experience.
